The Story of Jennifer

Hi. I’m Jennifer. Nice to meet you.

I’m here to give you a tiny insight into who I am, why I’m here and what this whole Western Wanderer thing is all about.

I basically live in a constant cross fire of structure and chaos. I am a creative free spirit who is also a control freak. I’m a health conscious, yogi wanna-be who is also an Italian that loves all the pasta and wine. I’m a musician, writer, nature obsessed, amateur photographer, coffee addict, jewelry maker, food lover & real estate agent. All of the contradictory qualities seem to simultaneously reside in me. It makes things… interesting. It makes me interesting, I hope :)

I was raised by hippies... like real hippies who grew up in the 60's and left the East Coast to follow the counterculture movement out West, fell in the love with the Sawtooth Mountains and decided to settle in Idaho of all places. I spent my entire life never thinking twice about the fact that our daily driving vehicle was a VW camper van and our house always smelled like Nag Champa incense. Our life never followed the traditional family model - we are a collection of artists, musicians, business owners and educators, which as a teenager seemed like the craziest family in the world!

Fast forward to now - I just turned 33 years old. I spent a significant chunk of my teen to early adult life rebelling against everything that my family is. I worked in the fashion and beauty industry for over a decade, but it just never seemed to fit - no matter my successes. So I quit. All of it. I moved home - after swearing at 18 years old that I’d never be back. And now, 5 years later, I finally feel like a whole person and ironically, I’m basically turning into my parents.

I fell in love with a musician (of course), after again swearing that I would NEVER date one. Now, he is my other half and I can’t imagine where I would be without him. Our life is music, traveling (usually in the gross band van), staying up late, writing, creating, dreaming and working hard because we want this life to be on our own terms. We believe in magic and manifestation and following your dreams no matter how insane people think you are.

Which brings me here. To The Western Wanderer.

Tylor & I were sitting on the beach at Red Fish Lake (one of our favorite places to relax and find inspiration) when suddenly, like a collision of the minds, we realized this magical idea and knew that we had to do it.

With my background in fashion and retail and Tylor’s obsessive love for all things vintage and western - we had something. Plus our house was basically already overflowing with cool vintage stuff that Tylor had collected on his travels. So we put the pieces together and here we are. The Western Wanderer was born!

We hope that it will be a destination for quality vintage western pieces and also a place to read about some really cool stuff and some pretty random thoughts. Stick with us, because this will only get better as we figure out what the heck we’re doing.

If you’ve read this far, thank you! We truly have the most incredible network of people behind us and we are eternally grateful for all the support and love we receive from you all every day!
